Trying out a GLA 200, I noticed a wind noise by the drivers window (left side in France). I opened the window and reclosed it twice with no effect. I did the same thing for the sun roof. The issue occurs driving around 70mph. I was wondering whether anyone else has encountered it?

I think you might have a point. If there is a strong cross-wind, that is bound to upset the airflow over the roof rails, which, after all, protrude quite a lot in aerodynamic terms. I bet that's where the 'extra' noise come from.

I have a 200 (petrol) but haven't noticed any noise from wind... if you have a pano roof open at the back you can get more noise until you activate the air con which then drops the noise down slightly...

Having tried a second car, the noise wasn't so strong. I took a motorway and the noise was different following the wind direction. The second car didn't have the sun roof.

If you have a pano roof you will also get different wind sounds when driving a different speeds as the roof glass moves up or down depending on your speed to keep aerodynamics (when the roof is tilted open at the back)... the dealer and they said it was normal for the GLA & CLA as they both use the same system... the noise difference isn't that much but it does go quieter when down at higher speeds...

I have owned my GLA250 for more than 15 months andalways had wind noisefrom both front windows (as if the window is not fully closed). On investigation it appears that the wind is getting behind the window seal, especially noticeable at the top back corner, simply lifting the rubber seal around the door frame the wind noise increases significantly.I emailed Mercedes Customer Service nearly a year agoto which theyreplied "We are unaware of any issues with wind noise on these vehicles and would recommend that you arrange a time for your local Mercedes-Benz Retailer to investigate this issue."6 months ago (Jan 2015) I took the car to my localretailer to investigateand replied back to Mercedes Customer service with the following email:I have since taken the car to my local dealer for investigation into
the side window wind noise and requested a GLA courtesy car whilst
they investigated the noise. I found that the courtesy car had
exactly the same issue and therefore can confirm the wind noise from
the side windows is not specific to my vehicle but inherent in the
model.

More than 90% of my driving is at motorway speeds which is when the
noise is most noticeable and at its most annoying. Every other car I
have had (or been a passenger in) is quieter than the GLA for wind
noise from the side windows.

Being a brand new model I'm sure Mercedes-Benz accept there are likely
to be a few issues to rectify. My preliminary investigation suggest
that the noise is coming from between the glass seal and door frame
and not between the doors frame and car body. I have found that a
slight movement of the rubber seal can cause significant changes in
the amount of wind noise. I also note that the side window seals are
all rubber rather than the rubber/fabric seal seen on older
Mercedes-Benz cars.

I am providing this information to bring it to Mercedes-Benz attention
in the hope that this will be rectified, as I am getting frustrated
with the car.

I would very much appreciate if you could confirm that Mercedes-Benz design:-
a) are aware of this issue,
b) will or have investigated this issue,
c) have confirmed this is an issue,
d) have resolved this issue.
I did get a call from Mercedes Customer Service but no follow up email.I have now booked the car in again with my local dealer to further investigate.

Interesting - please keep us informed. I notice the wind noise more on some days than others, but you are right that it is more noticeable than one would expect for an MB car (having owned quite a few over the years).

I have just taken delivery of a new GLA 220d and have exactly the same wind noise problem , clearly MB have done nothing about it over the past 2 years.
Wish I had read this post first , I assumed it would be the same noise level as my c class which I had, it was very quiet .
Would be interested to hear from anybody who has managed to resolve the problem with MB.

:frown2: Have had my GLA for a week now, first time yesterday on the motorway, thought the windows were down, wind noise worst than my old van.
Have booked my car into Mercedes to investigate this, but reading the reports here dont hold out much hope, very disappointed.

Sadly my GLA was written off due to flood damage , only 3 months old .
Just taken delivery of a new GLD 220d , courtesy of LV Insurance , very pleased with it , but exactly the same level of wind noise from drivers window.
Most disappointing with such a nice car, why on earth cannot MB resolve this simple issue?

GLA wind noise

Mercedes have now had my GLA twice in the workshop, three times on test drives, each time agreeing with me that there is wind noise, they have tried new door seals but this has made it no better. They have now raised an issue with Mercedes but have been told by the service manager " did I not notice the wind noise when I took the car out for a test drive before I brought it as it might be a characteristic of the car" WHAT!!!!!

I have my new GLA200 from Jan 2017. Wind noise did occur. Contacted recently (Jun 2017) local dealer. They fixed the issue by strengthening doors. Now still has the noise but above 140 km/h. I think need to ask the dealer or a garage to do this every time.
