Hi all

I've just registered to the forum so looking forward to advice and info about my new GLA from fellow drivers.

I have one question which I need help with... I've got a GLA 200 petrol engine with manual gearbox and have noticed that there's a loud clicking noise from the engine. I've had it back to the dealership twice and they say it's normal, but I'm not sure as I can't believe that Mercedes would ship a car with this noise?

The dealership technician showed me a rubber block that fits over a unit on top of the engine block (just under the plastic cover) which is where the noise comes from (I think this is the fuel injection component). If you take the rubber off it becomes even noisier so the rubber has been added as a sound dampner. I'd be grateful if anyone can share any advice about this noise and it they suffer the same...

thanks in advance...

To update the Mercedes feedback, after going to Germany and back to the dealership... 'if they can't find any component faults then they are not obliged to do anything further'... so I'm stuck with a ticking noise until I can get feedback from a specialist in the UK who will test my engine...

Try looking for a dealer with a 200 Petrol in stock and ask them nicely for a side by side comparison.
Alternatively, ask your dealer for a side by side comparison.
I did that once on a VAG product. It works. I hope you get a favourable result soon. It's painful living with something
You are not happy with, whilst paying out a lot of money.

Good luck. The only thing I've heard about Merc engines is that the diesel engines can be quite rattly, I have always heard good things about the petrol so hopefully this is either normal or easily fixed for you.
