How does the GLA tpms work?

I've heard different theories about how tyre pressure monitoring works on the GLA, and that it may be different to some other MB models.

One theory is that each corner of the car contains an antenna which receives the signal from the tpms valve unit in the wheel at that corner. This means that the wheels can be swapped around the car without any need for resetting or recoding of the system, as the pressures displayed on screen will be correct for the current location of each wheel.

Can anyone definitively confirm or rebuke this?

I know I can test it by swapping a couple of wheels around and adjusting the pressures to see what the display does - but with no spare, only one jack and no axle stands, it might be a tad tricky...

Cheers
